Another Malawi trip report

We camped at the newly started Liwonde Safari Camp run by Pieter and his Dutch partner – very good food, hot bucket showers, great bar and plenty of game in the park. Highly recommended.

When leaving Lilongwe, we found it hard to find the M14 to Salima – its marked as a big road on the map, but there aren’t any road signs and a dubious distance on the map again. It seemed to us that the further north you go, the less accurate the maps are!

The camping at Chintheche Inn was very good value – fab ablutions and good food and pool. Finding eggs at Mzuzu was problematic till we stopped to fill up at the Total garage where they were sold singularly not in boxes – had to wrap them in precious loo paper! Advisable to keep egg boxes or take a custom made one.

Despite being warned about the crossing into Zambia, we found it the easiest so far – even the one guy who did hassle us to change money left us alone when we said we’d been told not to use him!
